MYSORE STYLE ASHTANGA

We always welcome newcomers to this often mis-understood approach to the practice of Yoga Asana , the sequence of asana is based on the Ashtanga Vinyasa  sequence but tailored for you and your specific needs. It's like having a one to one yoga session within the energy of a supportive group , the repetition of postures helps you to drop mindfully into the present moment cultivating a deeper connection with body and breath, overcoming obstacles on and off the mat.

This intelligent sequence opens the body safely and gently , building as you and your practice grows . This approach to yoga allows you to drop the stories of the mind while you observe what is arising in the present moment, allowing for a more meditative approach to the practice of yoga asana.

The sequence begins with basic postures, later opening up and revealing a depth as students continue to practice, so they progress according to their level. A beginner starts with only a few poses, gradually adding more and more as your practice develops and proficiency and commitment evolve.

It allows for a quiet meditative practice to emerge, a chance to really transform. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a powerful practice that creates a calm, healthy mind and body.

Practicing in silence  (combined with the powerful individual focus of all the students), with only cues, tips and subtle adjustments form a teacher, creates a unique atmosphere that is very conducive to yoga and meditation, in turn this sets you up to meet your day with clarity and composure.

Who can attend? Ideally, you will have attended classes with AYM teachers before or have an established self practice if you wish to learn the sequence. You don’t need to have memorised the order of the postures as you will be helped with this and given a sheet to memorise. This type of journey allows for a deeper connection to develop between teacher, student, and the practice.
